Roger WilliamsManaging Director & Chief Investment Officer – B. Econ. Sc. (Hons)
Roger displayed entrepreneurial flair at a young age setting up a business at 15 and investing in the stock market. Whilst studying actuarial science he learnt how to card count and at 21 became a professional blackjack player for a year. Thereafter he travelled internationally.
He worked at Liberty Asset Management from 1995-98, initially as an equity analyst and then as part of a four-member team responsible for managing R30bn in assets. At the age of 29 he set up Centaur Asset Management.
He has accumulated a wealth of knowledge from over 35 years of investment experience being instrumental in developing Centaur’s methodologies which give it the ability to outperform.
Nicholas de VosPortfolio Manager & Senior Analyst – B. Com. Hons (Fin. Analysis)
Nicholas joined Centaur in July 2020, prior to this Nicholas spent 4 years as an analyst at a Johannesburg-based hedge fund. He has completed the CFA program and holds an honours degree in Financial Analysis from the University of Stellenbosch. A provincial swimmer in his youth, and avid traveler in later years. When Nick is not in search of great investment ideas, he enjoys outdoor activities such as fly fishing and cycling.
Laing WalkerAssistant Portfolio Manager & Global Analyst – Hons (Financial Analysis), MFin (Finance)
Laing has managed his own investment portfolio from the age of 16 and was awarded an Allan Gray Valuation prize during his Masters in 2017. His ambition is evident in his pursuit for stock analysis and picking. In his spare time he enjoys CrossFit, hiking, and superbike racing. Laing joined Centaur in November 2017. Prior to joining, he worked at Sygnia Asset Management and Merchantec Capital.
Pierre-Jean PrinslooAnalyst (under supervision) – MCom (Finance), CFA
“PJ” joined Centaur in August 2021, having spent the previous 4 years as an equity analyst at Nedgroup Investments. He holds an Masters of Commerce in Finance from the University of Cape Town and is a CFA charter holder. He finds personal enjoyment in trail running in the mountains or getting together with friends for a braai.
Mick DohmEquity Trader & Quant – B. Com. Inv. Man. Sc. (Hons)
Mick has always been attracted to the pioneering spirit seen in business and financial markets. His years of trading experience as well as his B. Com Investment Management degree led to him joining Centaur in October 2011. He is responsible for equity trading and quantitative analysis.
Kirsty GroblerHead of Operations – BA Psychology (Hons), Post Grad. Diploma in Business Management
Before joining Centaur in March 2015, Kirsty spent 5 years in London building up experience in the financial services sector, specifically in accounting and property funds. She has more than 10 years of investment experience and along with her considerable psychology background, she brings a unique skill-set, great passion and efficiency to the team, especially in her relationships with our clients.
Chris AchesonMarketing – BA Creative Brand Communications
In the mid-2000s Chris completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Brand Communications. Chris has 17 years experience specialising in online advertising, graphic design, video production and web development. He joined Centaur in 2018 to focus marketing efforts in both online and traditional marketing media.
Megan MorrisClient Services – B.Soc.Sci (Org Psy)
Megan, with a background spanning 17 years in the Financial Services Industry, became a valuable member of Centaur in 2016. Her degree in Organisational Psychology provides her with a nuanced understanding of people, and her considerable experience and expertise play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service to Centaur’s clients.
Kelly-Sue AfricaAdministration – Certified Bookkeeper (ICB)
Kelly-Sue joined Centaur in June 2021. She is a qualified bookkeeper with over 12 years’ experience. Her experience spans various industries from which she brings in-depth knowledge and skills to the team. She loves the outdoors and is passionate about empowering the future generation of this country.
